UV PROTECTION
Consumer research has shown that UV protection is an important
lens attribute for patients. In fact, 3 of 4 patients report that they want
UV protection from their contact lenses, and 1 of 2 say they would switch
brands for UV protection.
Since 1997, ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses have led the
way in UV blocking. All ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses are FDA approved
to help provide protection against transmission of harmful UV radiation
to the cornea and into the eye.*
‡ACUVUE® ADVANCE™ Brand Contact Lenses block
approximately 90% of UV-A radiation and 99% of UV-B radiation. All other
ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses block approximately 82% of UV-A radiation
and 97% of UV-B radiation. On the average, contact lenses without UV blocking
block approximately 10% of UV-A radiation and 30% of UV-B radiation 1.

tinted and UV-blocking disposable contact lenses. Optom Vis Sci 1999;76(3):177-180.
* WARNING: UV-absorbing
contact lenses are NOT substitutes for protective UV-absorbing eyewear such
as UV-absorbing goggles or sunglasses, because they do not completely cover
the eye and surrounding area. You should continue to use UV-absorbing eyewear
as directed. NOTE: Long-term exposure to UV radiation is one of the risk
factors associated with cataracts. Exposure is based on a number of factors
such as environmental conditions (altitude, geography, cloud cover) and
personal factors (extent and nature of outdoor activities). UV-Blocking
contact lenses help provide protection against harmful UV radiation. However,
clinical studies have not been done to demonstrate that wearing UV-Blocking
contact lenses reduces the risk of developing cataracts or other eye disorders.

INSIDE-OUT MARK
ACUVUE® inside-out marks help make insertion easier by letting you
see if your lens is inside out.
On ACUVUE® 2, 1•DAY ACUVUE® and ACUVUE®
BIFOCAL, if you place your lens on your finger and look at it from
the side, you should be able to see the 1-2-3 written correctly. If the
lens is inside out, the 1-2-3 will appear reversed.
On ACUVUE®, if you place your lens on your finger and look at it from
the side, you should be able to see the AV written correctly. If the lens
is inside out, the AV will appear reversed.
Consult your Eye Care Professional for more information.

MEDICAL DEVICE
A contact lens is a prescription device and it must only be
fit and prescribed by an Eye Care Professional. Borrowing contact lenses,
or obtaining them without a prescription, could lead to serious vision problems.
Although all eyes look pretty much the same, in reality everybody's eyes
are slightly different. Eyes come in a variety of shapes and sizes. That's
why it's important to have your Eye Care Professional fit your contact lenses
for your particular eye shape and size.
Even if you've been wearing contacts for years, it's a good idea to have
your Eye Care Professional check your prescription to make sure that your
lenses offer the best possible fit for your unique eyes.
In order to take good care of your eyes, we recommend that you see your
Eye Care Professional at least once a year. Yearly visits can detect vision
changes as well as early signs of some other health problems.

schedule and the lens care instructions provided by your eye doctor.
Are there any risks with wearing contact lenses? Although
rare, serious eye problems can develop. Therefore, it is important
to talk to your eye doctor about proper wear and care of your lenses.
Who should not wear contact lenses? Only your eye doctor
can determine if contact lenses are right for you. If your eye doctor
has prescribed contact lenses for you, you should not wear them
